      Pure Nerd
      52 % Nerd, 39% Geek, 34% Dork
      For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.

The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionallysmart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking upall of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer.Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even moreso as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely bereplaced with the following label: Purely Successful.

Congratulations!

8AM classes really suck. I struggled to wake up today at 7AM (Thank God Ken is the 'alarm'). After an hour and 40 minutes of CS 118 lecture, I went to ESUC lounge and checked emails. I was waiting to do ESUC tabling at 11AM.

So I was at our table, promoting how great ESUC is. I tried to make up a slogan, but it didn't come out right: "If you are an engineer, come join ESUC, baby...". The sign-up sheet was so short that we had to write some fake names on it... Luckily, by the end of the tabling, we got a few names. This is actually considered good. (I guess ESUC needs to promote its free printing and the computer lab to attract people...)

I went to play basketball with Edmond and Tony. I didn't run full-court because I wanted to work out. So I was shooting around, and they ran a few games. After Edmond left for small group, Tony and I hanged around Wooden a while and we went to Quizno's for dinner. The new Tuscan Chicken tastes really good. There's also a "buy two get second one 1/2 price" deal. So we got to save some money. Tony dropped by my place for a short while. And now, as usual, I'm writing my daily Xanga.

Much work ahead of me. Gotta be ready.

Let me recap what I've done the past few days.

Tuesday (7/22): I was home. (Yea, I flew back the night before.) Two reasons: I had a dental appointment, and most importantly, the citizenship oath ceremony! I'm a US citizen now... (that means I'm supposed to vote...) Anyway, I think having a US passport could be a lot more convenient when traveling to European countries. I can also apply some internships/summer jobs where citizenship is required. I flew back to LA later that day. Afterwards I had to study for my midterm the next day.

Thursday (7/24): I overslept. (Luckily Sumit woke me up.) So I went to class, played some bball, and came back to the apartment for lunch. Afterwards I spent some time on the web looking for places to stay for IEEE retreat. IEEE meeting followed. It went well, even though we talked about a lot of stuff. 30 minutes ago I was reading this article on Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi. I'm just amazed by what they've achieved in their respective careers. I like Pete a lot, but I also respect Andre. They're just amazing; they are the logos for American tennis.

Time to sleep. 8am class tomorrow.

Nothing really exciting today.

Tuesday, July 15, 2003

I have been so busy that I haven't had a chance to update my xanga for a few days.

Today was just another day: classes, EWD stuff, etc. So today we were having a surprised dinner for Vince. When I went to ESUC lounge around 5:45PM, I saw Vince and a lot of people inside the office. I was worried right away that he might figure it out, but I assumed he didn't and didn't say a word.

So Tony, Joanna and I drove down to Westwood. Yeah, Joanna drove... Luckily I survived... We first decided to eat at Moustache Cafe, but food was way too expensive. So we settled for Westwood Brew Co instead. (There aren't many options in WBC anyway.) We were waiting for Vince, who had figured out the whole thing already when we were all in the ESUC lounge. Yeah, our acting skills really sucked.

I ordered Fish and Chips, and the fish was really good. Everyone had a good time taking photos and chatting. Vince had three glasses of beer (I forgot the name of it.). Boy did he feel lightheaded afterwards...

Working on some more stuff after I got back to my place. Now I'm typing up my journal and studying GRE at the same time. What a day...

God please give me 24 more hours every day...
